About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and student-focused Phlebotomy Substitute Instructor to provide comprehensive instruction in the art and science of phlebotomy. This role is responsible for preparing aspiring phlebotomists with the knowledge, technical skills, and professionalism required to succeed in the healthcare field.
The ideal candidate will cultivate a positive, structured, and safe learning environment while delivering high-quality lecture and hands-on clinical instruction. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and adherence to educational and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct comprehensive instruction in phlebotomy, including lecture and clinical drawing sessions
- Deliver curriculum content clearly and effectively to ensure student understanding and competency
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe learning environment
- Supervise students during clinical practice to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Encourage and support students throughout the program to promote successful completion
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
- Manage onsite inventory and supplies
- Complete required classroom documentation in accordance with company policies
- Maintain productive attendance and timeliness for all scheduled classes
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
State Qualifications
Instructor (Permit)
- 2 years of practical experience in Phlebotomy. Letters from Employer MUST be included showing 2 years.
- Current Phlebotomy Certification
Instructor (Provisional)
Within the 1st year of being hired, must attend either:
- Must complete a 30-clock-hour approved course in general teaching methods from a proprietary school association recognized by the commissioner or
- A 3-semester-credit-hour course in general teaching methods from an institution whose programs are registered or recognized by the department shall be completed;
Instructor (Full License)
- Must complete two additional 30-clock-hour approved professional education courses from a proprietary school association recognized by the commissioner or
- Three additional semester credit hours in appropriate professional education from a proprietary school association recognized by the commissioner.
- 2 years of practical experience in Phlebotomy. Letters from their Employer MUST be included showing 2 years.
- Current Phlebotomy Certification
Required Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Relevant occupational work experience in phlebotomy
- Strong communication and instructional skills
- Reliable transportation
- A secure address to receive inventory shipments
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Proficiency with technology, including iPads, mirror casting, and basic troubleshooting
- Professional demeanor and effective classroom management skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- EKG knowledge and work experience
- Prior teaching or training experience

Substitute Schedule:
AM Shift: Monday's - Thursday's, 9:00AM - 1:00PM (Occasional Friday)
PM Shift: Monday's - Thursday's, 6:00PM - 10:00PM (Occasional Friday)
Weekend Shift: Saturday's Only: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
